University of South Wales

The Engineering Research Centre at the University of South Wales undertakes a wide range of research work including heat transfer modeling, condition monitoring and advanced control of energy systems.

Since 2001, the Centre has managed external research funding totaling more than £4.8M from a variety of sources including the Carbon Trust, ECSC, RFCS and BCURA. The Centre has an extensive range of instrumentation including a 60 kW gas-fired test furnace, a fluidised bed for combustion of gaseous, liquid and solid fuels, and an acid-alkali combustion simulation facility.

In addition the Centre also has an appropriate range of software and has exclusive access to a parallel processing Beowulf cluster for numerically intensive modeling studies. Website link engineering.research.glam.ac.uk
